HORTICET stands for Horticulture Common Entrance Test which is a state-level entrance exam conducted by Dr. Y.S.R Horticultural University to provide admissions into B.Sc. (hons.) horticulture course for the academic year 2024-24 for Diploma in Horticulture Course passed students from Andhra Pradesh state.
The duration of the B.Sc. (hons.) horticulture course is four years offered by the Dr. Y.S.R Horticultural University which is further divided into eight semesters. HORTICET (Horticulture Common Entrance Test) conducts in pen-paper mode (Offline). Students who meet the eligibility conditions can appear in the entrance exam.

Students seeking admission into Dr. Y.S.R Horticultural University for four-year B.Sc. (hons.) horticulture degree course need to fulfil the given eligibility conditions.
Students must have completed Diploma in horticulture course from Dr. Y.S.R Horticultural University are eligible to apply.
Students awaiting their final year results can also apply for provisional admission and at time of counselling they have to submit the proof of qualifying exam.
The minimum age required to appear in the HORTICET (Horticulture Common Entrance Test) is 17 years and upper age limit is 22 years for all students (25 years for S.C. & S.T. students and 27 years for Physically Challenged (Differently abled) students).
Seats Intake: -
Total No. of seats given to diploma holders is 15% of seats of B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture which is 83 seats (36=Private. College Seats +47=University College seats) & 09 EWS quota seats (04 Private College seats +05 University College seats) Total =92 seats (40=Private College seats +52=University College seats).
Reservation Criteria: -
According to rules of Government of Andhra Pradesh.
The above seats will be given in the ratio of 85% for local students and remaining 15% seats will be considered as unreserved quota.
Applicants are required to apply through the E-application process (online) only. Last date for registration for this academic year is over. Candidates can apply next year by following the process given below.

Students who wish to apply for the HORTICET -2024 (Horticulture Common Entrance Test), may pay the applicable fee through the online gateway of debit or credit card which is a non-refundable amount.

The payment shall be made through Demand Draft drawn in favour of the “COMPTROLLER, Dr.YSRHU, payable at TADEPALLIGUDEM” in any Nationalized Bank. Steps to Get Admit card:
Students are suggested to carry their admit card to the exam centre on exam date. Without the admit-card, students are not permitted for the exam.

Steps to get Result:
The merit list of the students will be displayed on the University website. During the preparation of merit list in case of more than one candidate obtained the same marks in Entrance Exam, the tie breaker will resolve by considering the following:
1. The percentage of aggregate marks obtained in the qualifying examination which is OGPA in Diploma in Horticulture course.
2. If the tie still remains, the date of birth (DOB) of the concerned students will be considered and elder one will be given preference.
The qualifying percentage of marks required for the HORTICET-2024 is 25% of the aggregate marks in case of students belongs to General category and there shall be no minimum qualifying marks in the case of students belongs to SC/ST category. The following documents required at the time of admission.
Attested copies of the 10th standard marks statement and Diploma in Horticulture Course marks statement.
Date of Birth Certificate.
Latest Caste Certificate (In case of ST/SC/ BC’s) issued by the Tahsildar /Mandal Revenue Officer.
Latest Conduct Certificate released by the Head of the Institute/ college last attended that student has never been found guilty of misconduct while study and never been punished or fined.
Certificates issued by the State concerned authorities in the case of Special categories such as NCC, physically (Saderam Certificate) Disabled persons and CAP.
Three passport size photographs (pasted on the Hall ticket and application form).
Latest Reservation for Economically Weeker Section (EWS) Certificate issued by the Mandal Revenue Officer / Tahsildar.
Proof of application fee receipt of Rs.1200/-for General students and for Rs.600/- in case of SC/ST/Differently abled students.
