About IISER (Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research)

Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) is an autonomous Institutions which was established under Ministry of Education, Govt. of India to promote and integrate interdisciplinary science research and education. Students are offered admission in different IISERs located in Thiruvananthapuram, Mohali, Tirupati, Bhopal, Kolkata, Berhampur and Pune.

IISER (Institutes of Science Education & Research) exam takes place every year, through which students are offered admission to 5 years BS-MS & 4 years BS programs in various disciplines. In general, IISER provides admission via three channels – JEE Advanced channel, KVPY channel & IISER Aptitude test (IAT) channel.

Eligibility Criteria:

Students must be an Indian citizen or PIO or OCI. Foreign candidates can apply for admission only through the JEE Advanced channel and not through IISER Aptitude test (IAT).

Students must have completed class 10+2 with science stream and must have studied Biology, Chemistry and Physics as compulsory subjects from a recognized board are eligible to apply.

GEN/OBC students and OBC-NCL candidates must have obtained at least 60% marks whereas SC/ST/PwD students must have obtained at least 55% marks in aggregate.

The minimum age required to apply for the IISER Aptitude test (IAT) is 17 years.

Reservation Policy: -

Reservation policies for admission in IISER (Institutes of Science Education & Research)  as mandated by Govt. of India will apply.

Scheduled Tribe (ST) – 7.5% of seats

Scheduled Caste (SC) – 15% of seats

Students belonging to the Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL) – 27% of seats

 Candidates with PwD (Persons with Disability) with 40% impairment – 5% of seats (supernumerary)

Economically Weaker Section (EWS) — up to 10%

Kashmiri Migrants — 3 seats

Application Form Fill-out Process:

Applicants are required to apply through the E-application process (online) only. Last date for registration for this academic year is over. Candidates can apply next year by following the process given below.

  1. Visit the official website of IISER.
  2. After that click on the IAT online Tab link.
  3. Read the instructions carefully before filling out the online application form.
  4. Fill-up all the necessary details in the application form carefully.
  5. Upload your signature, scanned photograph, thumb impression and all the necessary documents in the application form.
  6. Pay the application fee via online mode.
  7. Submit the application form before the last date of registration.

Application Fees

Rs.2,000/- for students applying under EWS, General and OBC-NCL categories.

Rs. 8,500/- for foreign nationals.

Rs.1,000/- for students applying under persons registered as Kashmiri migrants, persons with disabilities and SC/ST category.

Application fee is non-transferrable/non-refundable

Exam Dates:

The IISER IAT 2024 is an entrance exam conducted by Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) for admission to 5 years BS-MS & 4 years BS programs in campuses of IISER such as Thiruvananthapuram, Mohali, Tirupati, Bhopal, Kolkata, Berhampur and Pune.

The exam is a computer-based test (online) that has been conducted in various cities across India. Students wishing to appear for the exam must meet the eligibility conditions of the exam. IISER IAT 2024 has been conducted on June 17, 2024 and results had declared on 3 July 2024.

IISER Aptitude test  Admit Card

Exam Admit Card:

The IISER IAT Exam 2024 Admit Card was available on the IISER official website on June 10, 2024. Students can access their hall ticket by logging in with their login id and password.

Steps to Get Admit card:

  1. Go to the official website of IISER
  2. Then after click on the "IAT Admit Card" link.
  3. Enter your login id and password.
  4. Click on the "Submit" button.
  5. Admit card/Hall ticket will be shown on the screen.
  6. Download and print your Admit card/Hall ticket for future reference.

Students are suggested to carry their admit card to the exam centre on exam date. Without the admit-card, students are not permitted for the exam.

IISER IAT exam 2024 centres include cities such as Bhopal, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Calicut, Delhi, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Kolkata, Nagpur, Mumbai, Pune, Tirupati, Thiruvananthapuram, Vijayawada and Varanasi.

IISER Aptitude test  Exam Pattern

Exam Pattern:

IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) will be organized as a computer-based test (online mode) in centres across India.

IAT will comprises of total 60 questions, 15 questions each from Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics.

Time duration for answering the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) will be 180 minutes. Types of Questions will be of objective types i.e., multiple-choice type with only one correct answer.

IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) maximum marks will be 240.

Every wrong answer will lead to the deduction of 1 mark.

Every correct answer will be awarded 4 marks.

Unanswered questions will be awarded 0 mark.

Exam Result:

The IISER IAT Exam Result 2024 has been declared on the official website of IISER July 3, 2024.  Aspirants can check their results by using their login id and password.

Steps to get Result:

  1. Go to the official website of IISER.
  2. Then after click on the " IAT Exam Result " link.
  3. Enter your login id and password.
  4. There is “Submit" button option click on it.
  5. Your result will be appeared on the screen.
  6. For future reference download your result.
