About International Institute for Population Sciences University:-
The International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS)in Mumbai is a deemed University. It works as the ESCAP region's regional Institute for Training and Research in Population Studies. It was founded in Mumbai in July 1956. From July 1970 to 1985, it went by the name International Institute for Population Studies (IIPS) and Demographic Training and Research Centre (DTRC).
To enable the extension of its academic operations, the Institute was renamed to its current designation in 1985. The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, then declared the Institute to be a "Deemed to be University" on August 19, 1985, following Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. The accreditation has made it easier for the Institute to award accredited degrees and opened the door to continued institutional growth.
