The Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University (KVAFSU) was established under the Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries University Act in 2004. The university is established under The Government of Karnataka for the sole purpose of the development of education and research in the field of Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences. The university is one of the pioneer institutes that carry forward research in this field of science and offers various courses at UG, PG, Diploma and doctorate levels. The college has around 10 Research centres, and 8 constituent colleges with the necessary facilities.

Admission to the KVAFSU is based on merit and the score in Common Entrance Test(CET) conducted by KEA for UG programmes. PG programmes are also based on UG scores and scores on written tests. For the PhD program, the university conducts a separate entrance test followed by an interview. Final admission is subject to the candidate’s past academic record. Candidates can download the application form from the official university website. They can pay the application fees through a Demand Draft in favour of “Comptroller, KVAFSU, Bidar”. The application fee is INR 800 (General Candidates) and INR 400 (SC/ST/Cat-I candidates)

The campus is situated at the heart of the city which is well connected by all parts of the city.
