Through the North East Christian University Act 2012, which was approved by the Nagaland State Legislative Assembly in 2013 and duly published in the Nagaland State Gazette on June 5, 2013, NECU was formally established.Since then, the Dimapur-based University Has been on a mission to deliver wholesome, global education in viewpoint, upright in spirit, and praxis in its method.
NECU provides training programmes and courses in a range of subjects for its undergraduate, graduate, and research students. In the first and second semesters of their undergraduate studies, all students at a liberal arts university are required to take a number of courses, including the foundation course, religious studies, English—basic and advanced writing, science history, mass communication—introductory speech, North East Indian heritage in a global context, economics, political science, sociology, and counseling.
