About BTC (Basic Teacher Certificate) course:
BTC (Basic Teacher Certificate) is a Certificate level educational course which is recognised by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Govt. of India. Basic Teacher Certificate required for candidates who wish to teach in government primary schools.

Eligibility Criteria for BTC (Basic Teacher Certificate) course:
To pursue Basic Teacher Certificate programme, candidates need to fulfil following eligibility conditions.
Students must have completed Graduation and holding a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from recognised University are eligible to apply.
Students must have obtained minimum 50 % aggregate marks (45% marks for SC/ST) in Graduation.
There is no age limit to apply for the Basic Teacher Certificate programme.
Candidates who are awaiting their final year results are also eligible to apply.
Entrance exam for BTC (Basic Teacher Certificate) course:
Admission into BTC (Basic Teacher Certificate) course is done on merit basis or entrance exam basis. Colleges and universities provide admission on entrance tests basis which are conducted by them. But for that students need to follow the following steps.
Candidates have to first register themselves by filling basic information like an email address, phone number and so on.
Fill out the complete application form with all necessary information with accuracy
Then after scan and upload papers/documents such as signatures mark sheets, photos and it should be in a certain format.
Students can do their application fee payment via both online and offline modes.
After submission of an application form, college will verify the eligibility condition and then issue the admit cards, students have to download and print their hall ticket which is required in order to appear in an entrance exam.
After the conduction of an entrance exam, results will be declared by the college, in case students qualifies the entrance exam he/she will go to the documentation verification round.
Candidates are shortlisted on the basis of documentation, academic performance, entrance exam score, college will decide to allot a seat or not to candidate.
In general, the exam pattern of an entrance exam is as follows:
The mode of an entrance exam is either online or offline depends on the conducting body.
All the questions will be of objective in nature (MCQ) and of total 100 marks.
The duration of an entrance exam is approximately two hours.
The entrance exam consists of two sections where first part of the paper comprises questions from general comprehension, analytical reasoning, educational awareness, teaching, and learning, etc.
The second section comprises questions from science, mathematics, social science, English, Hindi.
One mark will be awarded for every correct answer, there will be a deduction of one mark for every incorrect answer.

The duration required to complete BTC (Basic Teacher Certificate) course is two years which is further divided into four semesters. It is a certificate-level teacher training course in education field.
