This course focuses on animal life process including development, reproduction, genetic shifts, recovery, disease, etc.

Parasitology encompasses the transmission, biology, epidemiology, immunology and control of parasites of medical and veterinary importance, parasitic diseases such as zoonoses and the diseases they transmit. It acts as a specialized field of medical science where rehabilitation and treatment form parasitic disorder are focused upon.

This course is beneficial as it imparts advanced training in disease ecology, infectious illness, and veterinary public health, and conservation, allowing graduates to play special roles in these fields, including policy formation. They can work with farm animals, pets and education and research, at universities and government research centres.

The Ph.D. in Veterinary Parasitology course enables students to work in business, research, or government in critical fields such as vivo biology and food security and train them for further postgraduate study in the field of research.

Research Interests:

The epidemiology, diagnosis and control of Fasciola hepatica, a major cause of production losses in cattle and sheep, a trematode parasite and emerging and serious zoonosis.

Tick-pathogen interactions at the molecular and cellular level, including co-infections with symbiotic and pathogenic viruses and bacteria.

Gastrointestinal parasites of livestock, Anthelmintic resistance in liver fluke and including mapping of drug resistance genes with the help of population genetic studies and genomic technology.

To ruminant parasite infection basic studies of the immune response.

Applying state-of-the-art imaging methods to understand interactions between the intestinal epithelium, apicomplexan parasites and the host immune system of livestock in 3D tissue culture models.
