The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) was established in 1962 to conduct Common Entrance Examinations for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the state. The Board was given the authority to perform online counselling and a single-window approach in 2014. WBJEEB has used online application and allotment via e-counseling since 2012 to ensure fairness, transparency, and no errors in the admission process. WBJEEB will conduct JELET-2024, an OMR-based Common Entrance Test for admission to the second year of 4-year Undergraduate Courses in Engineering/Technology and Pharmacy at various universities, government colleges, and self-financing institutes in West Bengal, for the academic session 2024-24.
JELET 2024 Application Form
Eligibility Criteria:
- Citizenship: The applicant must be a citizen of India.
- Age Limit: No upper age limit for Diploma holders in Engineering/ Technology/ Pharmacy; B.Sc. candidates should not be more than 27 years as on 31.12.2024, and Diploma holders in Marine Engineering should not be more than 25 years as on 31.12.2024.
- Diploma Holders: Must pass Diploma in any branch from an institute approved by AICTE with at least 45% (40% for SC/ ST/ OBC-A/ OBC-B/ PwD) marks or equivalent CGPA; for Jadavpur University, a minimum of 60% (45% for reserved categories) marks are required.
- B.Sc. Candidates: Must pass B.Sc. degree from a recognized university with at least 45% (40% for reserved categories) marks and have Mathematics as a subject in 12th standard.
- Admission to Engineering Degree Courses: Diploma holders and B.Sc. candidates can apply for admission to the 1st year Engineering Degree Courses, subject to vacancies in the 1st year classes in case the vacancies as lateral entry at the second year are exhausted.
Reservation Criteria:
- Seats are reserved for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PWD applicants according to applicable guidelines.
- Only Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) OBC-A/OBC-B applicants are eligible for selection as reserved candidates.
- Reservation is only available to Indian residents living in West Bengal.
- Candidates must submit certificates issued by appropriate authorities.
- Certificates must be provided for verification during the admissions/counselling process.
- Incorrect information or the inability to show proper proof could make an applicant ineligible for some/all seats, necessitating reconsideration in the following stage of counselling.
Application Form Fill-out Process:
Registration:
- Enter personal details such as name, father’s name, mother’s name, date of birth, gender, identification type and number, present and permanent address, mobile number, email ID etc.
- Carefully enter name, father’s name, mother’s name, date of birth, gender and domicile as these cannot be changed later.
- Choose a security question and answer, create a password, review, and submit the registration. Note down application number, password, and security question/answer.
- Do not share password with anyone.
Application:
- Fill up various other information such as domicile, category, PWD status, family income status, religion, nationality, academic details etc.
- Choose zones of examinations in order of preference and submit the application.
Uploading of images:
- Upload JPG/JPEG images of recent color photograph (10 to 200 KB) and signature (4 to 30 KB).
- If you are uploading a document, such as a certificate or a mark sheet, it must be in PDF format (50 to 300 KB).Upload photo and signature in one goes.
Payment of Examination Fees:
- Pay the examination fees by Net Banking/Debit Card/Credit Card/UPI.
- Application fee for the examination is Rs 500 for General candidates and Rs 400 for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B candidates, plus the Bank’s service charges as applicable.
- SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B candidates availing of the concession must upload respective certificates in given formats at the time of counselling.
- The fee once paid is not refundable under any Situation.
Confirmation Page:
- Download the ‘Confirmation Page’ after successful completion of all the above steps.
Correction of Application Form:
- Correction of primary registration data such as Name, Father’s Name, Mother’s name, gender, domicile, and Date of birth is not possible.
- During the specified correction time, candidates who wish to make changes to any other information in their applications may do so by simply logging in.
- Any correction request made after the correction period will not be considered by the Board.
JELET 2024 Exam Dates
On June 10, 2024, the JELET 2024 Exam will be held. Candidates are advised to prepare accordingly and keep up to date with the newest exam material. It is an important exam for students seeking lateral entry into engineering programmes.
JELET 2024 Admit Card
On the specified day(likely in June ), admit cards will be generated for students to download and print. To the examination centre, the candidate must have a printed hard copy of the admission card.

JELET 2024 Exam Pattern
- At the time of online application, candidates must select their qualifying examination (Diploma in Engineering/Technology, Diploma in Pharmacy, or B.Sc.).
- The JELET 2024 Exam will consist of two papers: Paper-I for applicants with a Diploma in Engineering/Technology OR a Bachelor's Degree, and Paper-II for candidates with a Diploma in Pharmacy.
- Paper-I for Diploma in Engineering/Technology OR B.Sc. applicants would differ from Paper-II for Diploma in Pharmacy candidates in structure.
