Overview
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national-level examination for admission to postgraduate engineering and technology programmes organized by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). The exam examines problem-solving and analytical skills as well as complete learning of undergraduate engineering fields. The exam takes place online and includes multiple-choice and numerical response questions. GATE scores are also used for recruitment in a variety of public sector organisations. Candidates can apply for GATE Exam on the official site (https://gate.iitk.ac.in)

GATE Eligibility Criteria :
  • Educational: Candidates must hold a Bachelors degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture or a Masters degree in Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Applications. Candidates can refer to the official website for specific eligibility criteria for each paper.
  • Age Limit: There is no upper age limit for taking the GATE exam.
  • Nationality: Candidates must be Indian citizens. Candidates from Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and Ethiopia may also apply for the exam.

What to take care of before filling GATE Application form?
  1. Personal information: Candidates must have a valid email address and cell phone number, which will be utilised for communication during the application process as well as future references.
  2. Scanned copy of photograph and signature: Candidates must provide a scanned copy of their photograph and signature in the format and size specified. The photo should be recent passport size, and the signature should be done on white paper with black ink.
  3. Identity proof: Candidates must have valid identity proof, such as an Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Passport, Driving License, PAN Card, or College ID.
  4. Cast Certificate: Candidates belonging to the SC/ST/PWD categories must have a valid category certificate.
  5. Degree Certificate/Principal Certificate: Candidates in the last year of their qualifying degree programme must acquire a certificate from their college or institutes principal.
  6. Payment Method: To pay the application cost, candidates must have a valid debit/credit card or net banking account.

GATE 2023 Admit Card

Admit Card released on date January 3 2023
Steps to get admit card :
1. Go to the GATE 2023 official website at https://gate.iitkgp.ac.in/
2. Tap to the "GATE 2023 Admit Card link.
3. Enter your GATE 2023 Enrollment  ID or Email Address, then your Password.
4. Finish the CAPTCHA verification.
5. Hit the Submit button.                
6. The screen will display your GATE 2023 admission card.
7. Verify all of the information on your admit card, including your name, portrait, signature, exam date, and exam location.
8. Print and Download your admit card for future reference.

Marking Scheme
Questions carry 1 mark and 2 marks
Negative Marking
For a wrong answer chosen in a MCQ, there will be negative marking.
For 1-mark MCQ, 1/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer.
Likewise, For 2-mark MCQ, 2/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer.
No negative marking for Incorrect answer(s) to MSQ or NAT question.
